How Guided Process Works

Five clear steps, one file, both sides following the same boat sale.

The shared file keeps the current next step, agreed terms, deposit path, deadlines, documents, and closing record visible in one place.

Accept Final Terms

Negotiate until both sides accept the same version.

Every proposal is tracked as a version. Changes stay visible, and each selected condition shows who is responsible and the deadline.

4

Pay and eSign

The fee comes after you agree, not before.

Once both sides accept the same final terms, payment opens the signing process. Completed documents are added to the file after all required signatures are collected.

Complete the Boat Sale

Payment, sale documents, and delivery stay visible.

Conditions are satisfied or waived on the record. Shared status and payment evidence stay visible while sensitive lender and identity documents remain protected.

Choose Guided When

The sale has more moving parts than a Bill of Sale can hold.

“There’s still a loan on the boat, and the lender must be paid before we complete the sale.”

Keep the lender’s payout statement, payment evidence, and discharge follow-up organized with the file.

“I’m not paying until a surveyor has looked at it.”

Survey, sea trial, financing, insurance, and documentation review can each become a written condition with an owner and deadline.

“We want the deposit held somewhere sensible until the sale is completed.”

Record no deposit, direct payment to the seller, or request the HarbourClose Client Deposit Account for an eligible transaction.

Before You Trust Us With It

The important questions, answered plainly.

Your file is invite-only.

HarbourClose is not a marketplace. A transaction file is visible only to invited buyers and sellers and authorized HarbourClose staff. Identity documents are not shown to the other side.

Signed versions stay preserved.

Proposals, confirmations, signatures, and status changes remain organized with the file. A change that needs new signatures is issued as a new version.

Fees never touch the boat money.

The service fee is charged separately and is never deducted from a deposit or other boat-sale funds. The file keeps those amounts and purposes distinct.

You pay when the terms are final.

Starting the file and working toward final terms do not trigger the Guided fee. The payment request comes after both sides accept the same final version.

What HarbourClose is not: a law firm, brokerage, lender, insurer, escrow provider, or title guarantor. HarbourClose organizes the boat-sale process; it does not represent either side or guarantee title.

Straight Answers

Questions people ask before they start.

What if the deal falls apart?+

If the transaction ends before the buyer and seller accept the same final terms, the Guided Process fee is not requested. After payment, the service-fee terms and their written agreement govern what happens next.

Is the deposit held in escrow?+

HarbourClose may offer its Client Deposit Account for eligible transactions. We do not describe it as escrow. Any release follows the written instructions accepted for that transaction.

The boat has a loan on it. Can Guided still help?+

Yes. The seller obtains the lender payout statement, the file records the payment evidence, and discharge follow-up is tracked. HarbourClose does not guarantee the lender’s discharge timing.

Do the buyer and seller need accounts before we begin?+

No payment is required to begin. The starter can enter the facts they know and invite the buyer or seller by secure link to join the same file.

What does HarbourClose not do?+

HarbourClose is not a law firm, brokerage, lender, insurer, escrow provider, or title guarantor. It organizes the transaction process and records the buyer’s and seller’s instructions and actions.
