Check If This Fits

Choose the Right Service

This service is for an agreed sale without unresolved conditions or payouts.

A quick fit check keeps document preparation straightforward and moves a more involved transaction into the support it needs.

Documents Fit When

The deal is straightforward

  • The buyer and seller are individuals, including co-buyers or co-sellers
  • The main sale terms are already agreed
  • There are no buyer conditions to manage
  • There is no known loan, lien, payout, or ownership concern
  • The buyer will pay the seller directly

Choose Guided or a Coordinator When

The sale has more moving parts

  • The parties are still preparing or negotiating an offer
  • The sale depends on survey, sea trial, financing, insurance, or another condition
  • A deposit needs release, refund, or Client Deposit Account instructions
  • A lender payout, lien concern, business party, or ownership issue needs coordination
  • You want HarbourClose staff to actively manage the file

Your Prepared Documents

Fictional samples of the documents prepared from the information confirmed in the file.

01

Vessel Bill of Sale

Prepared from the vessel, party, price, and delivery facts confirmed in the shared file.

02

Ownership and Lien Declaration

Signed separately by every seller to record their ownership, financing, lien, and authority declarations.

03

Payment Receipt

Created after the seller confirms a direct buyer-to-seller deposit or final payment.

04

Delivery and trailer records

Practical vessel-delivery guidance, plus a separate Trailer Bill of Sale when a trailer is included.

05

One optional PPSA search

One confirmed search is included at no additional charge when deliberately selected. It reports only what the searched registry returned.

Why Choose Basic Documents

A blank form records what you enter. HarbourClose guides what to collect.

01

Bring in the right people

The file prompts you to add or invite the buyers, sellers, and registered owners involved in the sale.

02

Capture the vessel details

HarbourClose walks both sides through the vessel, HIN, licence or registration, engines, trailer, and included property.

03

Organize the exchange

The file records the agreed price, payment, dates, and delivery details, then prepares documents from the information both sides review.

How the Document Service Works

Three clear steps from agreed sale to signed record.

01

Start the private file

Add what you know about the buyer, seller, boat, price, and direct payment arrangement. Invite the other side to the same file.

02

Confirm the sale details

Each person completes their own information. Both sides review the shared facts before HarbourClose prepares the documents.

03

Review, pay, and eSign

Pay the $59 service fee when the file is ready, review the prepared documents, and sign through the secure eSignature workflow.

Simple and Explicit

The file records what the buyer and seller decide.

Invite-only transaction file

Only the participating buyers, sellers, and authorized HarbourClose staff can access the private file.

Each seller makes a declaration

Every seller signs their own Ownership and Lien Declaration. HarbourClose records the declaration but does not guarantee title.

Boat money stays separate

The file records direct buyer-to-seller payments. HarbourClose does not hold or administer the deposit, balance, refund, or release.

Important details are reviewed

The buyer and seller confirm the information used in the documents before the file moves into signing.

What HarbourClose is not: a law firm, brokerage, lender, insurer, escrow provider, or title guarantor. The Basic Documents service organizes an agreed private sale; it does not choose terms or represent either party.

Straight Answers

Questions before you start.

Can I make an offer using Basic Documents?+

No. This service begins after the buyer and seller have agreed on the main sale terms. Use Guided Process to prepare an offer, invite the other party, track counters, or include conditions and deadlines.

Do the buyer and seller both use the file?+

Yes. One person starts the private file and invites the other side. Each buyer and seller joins with their own HarbourClose account and confirms their own information.

Can Basic Documents record a deposit?+

The file can record money paid directly from the buyer to the seller. HarbourClose does not hold, administer, or decide the release or refund of those funds. Use Guided Process or Boat Sale with a Coordinator when the deposit needs those instructions.

What if there is still a loan or lien on the boat?+

The Basic Documents service is not right for a known loan, lien, payout, or ownership concern. Guided Process or Boat Sale with a Coordinator can organize the additional lender, payout, and lien work.

Does either party need a BoldSign account?+

No. When the prepared documents are ready, the required buyers and sellers receive a secure signing link and the completed documents return to the HarbourClose file.
