Designed for Registered Pleasure Craft

This service is intentionally limited to common pleasure-craft filings in the Canadian Register of Vessels. Complex or commercial matters require separate review.

Covered by this file

  • Pleasure craft in the Canadian Register of Vessels
  • First registration and ordinary ownership transfers
  • Renewal, replacement certificates, and name or port changes
  • Registration closure, deletion certificates, and marine mortgage discharge
  • Registry transcripts and historical research
  • Uncontested death transmissions after HarbourClose staff review
  • Eligible individual, corporate, and Indigenous Band owners

Outside the current scope

  • Pleasure Craft Licence applications or transfers, which use a separate service
  • Small Commercial Vessel Register, government vessels, barges, or commercial river rafts
  • Bareboat charter registry, vessels under construction, or provisional registration
  • New mortgages, mortgage transfers, court sales, bankruptcy, contested estates, or other disputed title cases

How Federal Documentation works

The file keeps the vessel facts, uploaded records, quote, and submission process organized from the first request onward.

  1. 1.Tell us what you need

Choose the registry service and provide the vessel facts you already have.

  2. 2.Upload your documents

Keep the available ownership and registry records together in a private HarbourClose file.

  3. 3.Review the quote

HarbourClose reviews the request and shows the service fee and applicable charges before starting.

  4. 4.We prepare the filing

After confirmation, staff organize the submission package and manage the filing workflow.

What to have ready

Begin with the vessel’s year, make, model, HIN, official number or current registry information, the service requested, and any ownership or registry documents already available.

  • Vessel details
  • Current registry records
  • Ownership documents
  • Requested filing service

Missing information can be identified during staff review before the quote is confirmed.

Licence or registration?

A Pleasure Craft Licence identifies a licensed pleasure craft but is not proof of ownership. Federally registered vessels use Canadian vessel registry processes instead of a PCL change.

Pleasure Craft Licence

HarbourClose offers a separate $35 PCL Transfer Service for eligible Basic Documents files.
